Making a difference: Supporting Lam Dong II Hospital

This December 2023, our nonprofit with the help of many volunteers went to Lam Dong II Hospital, situated in the heart of Bao Loc City, Ho Chi Minh. Lam Dong Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in the region. It was established with the task of providing emergency care, medical examination and treatment to serve employees and people in 6 local districts of the province. Our journey was not only an eye-opening experience but a reminder of the stark healthcare crisis many of these communities suffer from. 

Lam Dong II Hospital, like many healthcare facilities, has been grappling with the consequences of an ongoing healthcare crisis. For many living in this district, access to healthcare is a privilege. Limited resources and limited access to quality healthcare have been ongoing challenges for patients and medical professionals. It is a distressing reality that countless individuals in Bao Loc and the surrounding areas struggle to receive medical attention.

We spoke to Doctor Nguyen Thanh Luc, the deputy director of the hospital who exclaimed the hardships many of the patients at this hospital face which significantly impacted our own perspectives on the issue first hand. Recognizing the needs of Lam Dong II Hospital we collaborated with the Red Cross Association of Bao Loc City to organize the donations of funds to support the charity kitchen at Lam Dong II Hospital. Their kitchen relies solely on donations and government assistance. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu, Chairman of the Red Cross Association of Bao Loc City, the positive impacts that the charity kitchen has brought to less fortunate patients and their families have touched the hearts of many organizations, businesses, and philanthropists both within and outside Bao Loc City. 

During our visit, we had the privilege of connecting with some of the patients at the hospital who were individually picked by us, the Red Cross, and board of the hospital. To bring them some joy and comfort during their challenging times, we distributed 30 individual gifts. These gifts were carefully selected to cater to their specific needs and included essential items such as food, toiletries, milk (for young children), and comfort items. Witnessing their smiles and gratitude reminded us of the importance of compassion and solidarity. Even though it was not a life changing gift they showed great appreciation for what was given to them. 

Understanding the significance of nourishment, we also directed our efforts towards the Lam Dong II Hospital kitchen. We donated 300 kilograms of rice, 400 liters of oil, and 19 million VND to the hospital's kitchen. These provisions will help ensure that patients receive nutritious meals during their time at the hospital, aiding in their recovery and well-being.

While our contributions may seem modest in the grand scheme of things, we firmly believe that every act of kindness has a ripple effect. We came together to bring hope to the less fortunate hospital patients and provide a helping hand to the dedicated staffs at the Lam Dong II Hospital. With our efforts we showcased how compassion and positive impact can shape and unite people together. We greatly appreciated everyone who donated whether it was through our fundraisers, website, sponsors, etc. Because of you, we are able to make this possible.
